The Festival

A festival born in the valley, looking out to the world.

VISIONS is the Camprodon International Photography Festival, a cultural project born in the Camprodon Valley with an international outlook. Through contemporary photography, the festival connects creation, territory, landscape and memory, turning Camprodon into a meeting place for artists, the community and the public.

Each edition offers a perspective on some of the major social, human and environmental challenges of our time through an author-led programme combining exhibitions, activities, mediation and visual education.

The VISIONS Perspective

01.

Photography and a contemporary perspective

A programme focused on documentary and artistic photography, bringing together established and emerging artists with a critical perspective on the contemporary world.

02.

Territory and memory

VISIONS creates a dialogue between contemporary creation, the landscape and the memory of Camprodon and its valley, while also incorporating the territory’s photographic and historical heritage.

03.

Visual education and mediation have been part of the festival since its inception, with activities aimed at young people, educational centres and diverse audiences, encouraging a critical and conscious approach to images.

Camprodon, the festival setting

VISIONS transforms Camprodon into an open cultural route. Heritage sites, streets, squares and natural surroundings host the festival’s exhibitions and activities, creating a dialogue between photography and territory.

Its character as a mountain valley and border territory, shaped by histories of passage, exile and resistance, makes Camprodon a particularly meaningful context from which to look at the present through photography.

Looking to the future

VISIONS is about looking, but also about imagining.

The festival’s name evokes both the power of the photographic gaze and the ability to imagine possible futures. VISIONS was created with the aim of establishing in Camprodon a cultural project with its own identity, connected to the territory and open to the world.
